Overview
Meteora is one of the biggest and most important group of monasteries in Greece and possibly one of the most spectacular and awe inspiring sights of the country. Meteora is also a sight that combines perfectly religious, cultural and natural interest, visited by numerous people around the world.
Tour duration : 2 days / 1 night
Start / End point : Syntagma square , Athens
08:00 - Pick up time
On leaving Athens, our luxury air conditioned bus travels through beautiful sceneries both coastal and mountainous . On our way to Trikala and Kalampaka you will have the chance to see great part of the Central Greece .
12:00 - Arrival in Trikala or Kalambaka
12:45 - Check in to your Hotel (3* or 4*) and have a refreshment before we depart to Kalampaka in order to visit the Natural History museum of Meteora and Mushroom museum which are co-located. In the Natural History museum you will have the chance to explore about 300 exhibits of animals , while in the Mushroom museum you will enjoy seeing exact replicas of approximately 250 species of mushrooms. The mushroom collection consists of handmade mushroom sculptures representing three stages of the mushroom’s life circle in its natural environment.
15:30 - After finishing the tour in the Natural History and Mushroom Museum we will proceed to Meteora and visit St. Stephens Monastery, one of the most important Monasteries .
17:30 – Free time to explore the beautiful city of Kalampaka (or Trikala if you wish) and have dinner in one of the city’s traditional restaurants .
19:30 - 21:00

11:30 - 13:00 Pick up and drive to Varlaam Monastery located in the breathtaking rocks of Meteora. Have the chance to enjoy a unique and more than impressive scenery with the ageless Monasteries, containing priceless historical and religious treasures. Admire the wonders of the nature allowing the great monasteries standing between earth and sky atop huge rocks.
13:00 - 14:30 Entrance to the Great Meteoron Monastery which counts over 600 years of existence and is considered to be the most important of the Monasteries.
14:30 - Departure for Athens early in the afternoon.
17:00 - Short stop to Kamena Vourla to have a coffee or a snack.
19:00 - Arrival in Athens.
*Entrance to the monasteries:
Appropriate clothing is required. Ladies should wear long skirts and must have long sleeves. Men are not allowed to wear shorts .

All passengers are kindly requested to wear face masks in the bus and practice social distancing.
*Overnight in Trikala or Kalambaka hotel :
Due to Covid19 restrictions and availability the accommodation may change from Trikala to Kalambaka . You will be informed about the hotel and city of accommodation one week before departure.
