Even though Naxos is the largest island in the Cycladic group, yet it is small enough to see the island’s unique inland secrets and villages in a day. This full day adventure bus tour offers hotel pick-up and drop-off. Visit Demeter’s restored Temple in Sangri dating back to the 5th century B.C and its museum (closed on Tuesdays). Next at the village of Chalki have a chance to taste the local liqueur Citron at an old distillery dating back to 1896. You will visit the medieval town of Apiranthos built on the slopes of the mountain with its narrow alley ways paved with marble, offering breathtaking views to the surrounds. Its unique architecture does not resemble the Cycladic white washed feel belonging to an island but more like a mainland village high up in the mountains. More surprises for this island unfold at Apollonas the spot of the old emery mines to admire the huge 35-foot marble Kouros statue. This unfinished statue dates back to the 6th century B.C. its considered as the personification of god Dionysus. Its unique not only in size but in its position.
